Hey there!

Hey guys! Okay, so Friday, July 30th was my birthday, and I went into the office. Waiting on me was a sign on the dry erase board saying happy birthday, and every time I saw a Morrish Orthodontics staffer they all said happy birthday! They are the best:)
You really couldn't ask for better staff members! There's Dana, Yukie, Inez, Vivian, Lucy, Debbie, Christen, Mrs. Vicki, and you can't forget Dr. Morrish! Yes, they usually end up doing painful things in your mouth that cause great amounts of pain, but outside all that they are pretty cool cats(;
One thing I got to do for my birthday was my 3 best friends took me to the Justin Bieber concert which was absolutely amazing:) We were sitting up pretty high, but we still got amazing pictures, we got to experience the concert, and I mean we were in the same room as Justin Bieber so what more could you really ask for!? In every single one of my pictures you can barley see my braces which is great!! My teeth look pretty good so far if I do say so myself:)
Well its kinda late, so I think I'm going to hit the hay:)

Been a While!!!

Okay, so the last time I blogged I just had my first wire change. We are way past that now! Last time i was in the ortho. office, I went in to get my wire taken off for my cleaning. Well, that didn't go as planned. I had gone in that morning to get my wire off, and later that morning i was informed that my dentist appointment had been rescheduled, and now I had a wire change. GREAT!
As I sat in the chair dreading the news of what awful metal tool would be put in my mouth today, I thought about the bright side. Hmmmm, the only thing good about this.... I'm one step closer to straight teeth! Now the dreaded news... UT OH! a heavier wire, and 2 more coils. The only words running through my mind at this point are "oh man, this is going to hurt tomorrow!"
Now its about ehhh maybe 3 weeks later, and my teeth look better than ever!
Recently, I have started volunteering in the Orthodontic office! The Morrish Orthodontic staff... probably some of the coolest people I know!(: Its always fun trying to scare Christen! But somehow, she always ends up scaring me!

1st wire change!

WARNING: FIRST WIRE CHANGE CAUSES SEVERE PAIN IN TEETH AND HEAD!!

Alright so the pain is gone from getting them on right? Now the pain is back! This wire is ridiculous!

So I went in and I got a new wire and 2 coils... oh joy these next few days should be fun! I took 2 Advil right away and the pain was still excruciating! i seriously ate yogurt, 100 calorie oreo's and something for dinner I cant remember(: haha! but that was my meal plan until today! The pain has started to go away but might I suggest Advil to ANYONE who is getting anything done to their teeth!

Ok so I couldn't eat a lot or chew a lot for a few days after I got my wire change.. but in the long run its SO worth it(:

Spring break is coming, summer is almost here, and i cant even feel my braces! Yes every once in a while they hurt like crazy but its totally worth it!! I can already see a huge difference in my teeth, but i definitely have a ways to go!!!

As I just said my teeth like barley hurt anymore. They haven't hurt for a while until 3 days ago. Now they hurt!! And for some reason its only my front 2!! They only hurt for about an hour at a time though so thats a good thing!(: The only part about not having a problem with my braces is not getting to go into the orthodontist office and see everyone!! So i just drop in sometimes to say hey![=

Day 18

Alright so I have had my braces on for 18 days now, and they totally do not hurt! They stopped hurting totally about a week after I got them on. I really and truly don't even feel them anymore except when I am eating.
Speaking of eating. I miss some of my favorite foods!! I cant eat ribs, no gum chewing, no chewy candy, no biting hard candy... this is a lot harder than I expected!! My mom and I went on a ski trip this past weekend with some of our friends and it was so tough. We went to a BBQ restaurant and I couldn't eat ribs!! Which is my favorite food!! We went to this old general store and I couldn't get any the chewy candy there, and it was some of my favorites too!! For those of you who have never had braces, those are just some of the foods you arn't supposed to eat.
Alright lets see.. braces, braces, braces. I am so used to them now, I really cant remember what my teeth felt like without them! I have noticed alot of things that I can, can't, and have to do.
Things you HAVE to do: You absolutley HAVE to brush your teeth atleast twice a day. I would recommend 3. I have noticed a difference even with my braces on, with how much whiter my teeth are. When you brush your teeth that much they stay white and they wont turn yellow!
Things I can do: I can suck on my favorite chips (Cape Cod Salt and Vinegar) so i can still have them but I don't crunch on them like I used to. Another thing I can do is I have figured out how to clean out my braces with my tongue. I know that sounds nasty and all, but it is alot easier than whipping out your Christmas tree brush every time you feel one little thing in your teeth!
Things I cant do: As I said before, I can eat some of my favorite foods which is painful but worth it. I cant go a day without brushing my teeth. If I do, my mouth feels nasty and I have to brush my teeth ASAP!

What was I thinking??

Day 2
What in the world was I thinking!! Braces.. are not fun!! My teeth hurt so bad today and I cant eat anything without my teeth hurting!! I tried eating some pasta for lunch but somehow I still ended up hitting my tooth! The hardest part so far for me is eating. I can really only eat soft foods right now. Nothing like hard or big and bulky just simple stuff like ice cream!
I think my teeth have truthfully already moved!! Well it seems like it atleast! All the brushing and stuff really isn’t as hard as you would think and its really easy to floss with the little threader they give you. Meet my new best friends. Their names are wax and the little Christmas tree brush! Those things are my life and I bring them everywhere I go.
Last night was so hard for me!! My teeth hurt so bad! The good thing is they said I would never be as sore as I am right now so I think I will be fine its just getting through these few days! I would probably suggest eating ice cream like I am doing right now or soup! Soups good too!

Today is the DAY!!!!!

February 2010
Today is the day!!! My appointment was at 8:15 this morning and I was so ready!! Last night I was so excited and I could not sleep! I truthfully woke up at every hour maybe even every half and hour starting at 3 because I really just wanted today to be here!!
So I got here this morning and my name was on the board under Getting Started and of course my mom took a picture of me in front of it. I came in, went in the bathroom brushed and flossed my teeth, and felt my crooked teeth for the last time! I sat down in the lobby and had my i-pod ready to go. Dana came in and took me back to the chair. I sat down and was so ready!! She explained what everything was and what was going on, and what they were doing in my mouth. I got the really cool new clear bracket, and you really can’t see them. You really can only see them if you are really close, or if you are really focusing and trying to see them.
Dr. Morrish came in and put on the brackets, and Dana finished up and let me go take a look… holy cow!! These things are tiny!! I truthfully didn’t look as bad in them as I thought I would!! The braces are so small, but I feel like my top lip is like 20 times bigger than it was before!!
I cant get over it!! They feel so weird! They don’t hurt but they just feel weird! The have all these bumps and groves in them so my top lip cant get situated and Dr, Morrish was making fun of me!! Haha!! He said I looked like a fish trying to get my lip all situated!! The only part I can wait for… Is the pain that is probably going to come with it!! Dr. Morrish is pretty cool again!
